SICAP 2018 - 2020 Case Studies

Meath Food Initiative

This case study highlights how Meath Partnership took a community development approach in
developing a collaborative response to addressing basic needs and building community capacity in
response to the Covid-19 pandemic. One of the core principles of the Social Inclusion and Community
Activation Programme (SICAP) 2018-2022 is collaboration and the ability to utilise SICAP resources in
order to work effectively with other agencies and organisations for the good of the community and
the individuals within it. The Meath Food Initiative directly supported individuals, children and families
experiencing disadvantage and in doing so, supported members from almost all SICAP target groups
including disadvantaged children and families, disadvantaged young people, disadvantaged women,
lone parents, new communities, people living in disadvantaged communities, people with disabilities,
the unemployed, low income households, Travellers and those at risk of homelessness to overcome
the new challenges posed by the pandemic.
