European Projects

Since 2005, Meath Partnership has been successful in securing funding through the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme (2007-2013) and the Erasmus+ Programme (2014-2020) for the benefit of residents, employees and businesses in County Meath.

Meath Partnership is working in collaboration with a number of organisations across Europe on a range of exciting Erasmus+ Projects that aim to increase the learning opportunities and educational options for adult learners in the county.  This will be achieved through the development of a series of new, innovative educational resources that can be accessed and used, free of charge, by service providers, trainers and adult learners in the county.

Projects that support and provide lifelong learning opportunities fit with the vision and aims of Meath Partnership because they provide opportunities for individual personal development, for social inclusion and active citizenship and they contribute to cultural development, community building and to the competitiveness and employability of Meath residents.

Lifelong learning is about all learning, whether it’s general education, vocational education and training or the non-formal education and informal learning undertaken throughout our lives that results in improving our knowledge, skills and competences from a personal, civic, social or employment related perspective. The term 'lifelong learning' therefore, recognises that there are many ways to learn and that learning is not confined to childhood or the classroom and the Erasmus+ Programme has been designed to enable individuals at all stages of their lives to pursue stimulating learning opportunities.  Learning can be seen as something that takes place on an on-going basis throughout life and in a wide range of situations.  Yes, it may take place in a classroom, but it also takes place at work, when volunteering, raising a family, participating in community projects and through our daily experiences from the interactions with others and with the world around us.
