Artisan Food Skills Development
Successful participants on this training programme will achieve a major award at FETAC Level 5 (Food Science) with strong progression links for further accreditation through the Higher Education Links Scheme. Additional FETAC Level 5 and 6 modules will be offered to meet current labour market requirements in this sector.

Those trainees that wish to establish their own business, and achieve progression through self employment will be facilitated to do so through engagement with a broad range of business start-up supports. Linkages to further business training and mentoring, including the potential to engage in a formal FETAC Start Your Own Business programme, and access to streams such as the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance, will provide participants with the best opportunity to pursue self employment in the sector. Capital Investment to initiate a new business start-up in this sector is eligible for support under the LEADER Programme
This course will be delivered over a 20 week period beginning March 14th 2011 and finishing in June 2011.
Candidates for the programme must meet the following criteria:
- Be unemployed for at least 3 consecutive months.
- Currently in receipt of a jobseekers payment.
Priority will be given to applicants who are under the age of 35 and who were previously employed in declining sectors such as construction, retail and manufacturing. Applications from participants from other age groups or previous industries are also welcome.
