Community Energy Audits

 

Aramark have been appointed by Meath Partnership to undertake comprehensive energy audits on a number of community centres throughout the county. They will be working with community centres to improve their overall energy efficiency by reducing energy consumption and expenditure and increasing the comfort levels for all users.  They will also be investigating the potential for renewable energy projects on site. “We’ll look at the different energy streams on-site and the operational efficiencies of each and then identify the improvements that can be made. This basically means that we will look at where exactly the electricity goes once it comes in the front door; how much of it goes on lighting, computers, air conditioning, etc.” said Alan Cooke, Project Manager. Typically, many of the community centres around the county are older buildings that are very draughty and lack adequate insulation. Alan Cooke believes that there is significant room for improvement. 

 

 Each energy audit will cost the local facility €99 with the balance being met through the LEADER programme. For this initial investment, each community facility will get an extensive onsite energy audit, access to a specialist energy consultant in Alan and his team, a detailed technical report clearly highlighting areas were energy is being lost, specifications for improvements, payback period and a financial projection as to the costs and assistance in applying for LEADER grant aid to meet up to 75% of any capital improvements that are required. “This is a fantastic opportunity for local community facilities, halls and centres to get an energy make-over and I strongly encourage applications from all interested groups to come forward and avail of this support immediately” – it’s all in place and ready to go, rallied Gerard Weldon, Meath Partnership’s Chairperson.
