In April 2012, Meath Partnership launched the Venture Programme: Supporting Artisan Food. The Venture Programme is a new comprehensive business development package aimed at fostering food entrepreneurship, cultivating the diversity of artisan food talent in the county and promoting culinary tourism in Meath.

The appointment of a Food Specialist will be an integral role within the Venture Programme and will provide animation and capacity building support to the sector, particularly in the areas of: 

• Access to industry specific mentoring and advice relevant to food entrepreneurs
• Costing and margin analysis of artisan products: maximising value added
• Validating individual business proposals and facilitating access to LEADER funding
• Technical know-how and expertise to grow local artisan businesses and associated product range
• Co-ordinating and facilitating industry-related training and skills development
